Regarding
the article in the Jan. 18 newspaper regarding the two local nursing
homes cited for poor care of patients: My husband was a patient in
Sunbridge Care Home in Paradise in 2001 and the care given him was
atrocious. I reported the facility to the state agency that oversees
care facilities. They acknowledge that my complaint was justified and
they had cited and fined Sunbridge Care Home in Paradise.

At that time I talked with a friend who formerly owned and operated
a care home in Paradise and still receives the newsletters concerning
nursing homes. In looking over several of the newsletters I observed
that there were numerous items that stated "Cited, Fined, nothing
paid."

Now I ask you, what possible good does citing, fining and not collecting do to remedy the problem?

This is outrageous and shouldn't be allowed to continue and I
ask you to follow up on this situation in an effort to help the poor
souls who find themselves in such facilities.
